4Stripes Prize Challenge was created to fill the void of jiu-jitsu community-wide events in Hong Kong. Season 1 was all about giving mixed teams of blue and purple belts the stage to challenge each other and show us what they got over a period of 5 weeks. 8 Teams of 3. 230 kgs per team. 45 fights. RULES OF SEASON 1

Season 1

  • 3 competitors vs 3 competitors
  • Male only
  • 8 fighting teams
  • 4 weeks sesson
  • 4 episodes – weekly schedule match
  • Season Finale Grand Final
  • Each team can be form with competitors from between different academies, gyms, cities, nations or planets…
  • Each competitor can only belong to one team.
  • Each team can have 3 members (3 competitors). Only 3 members will complete per episode.
  • Due to practical reason, each team can have up to 2 reserves. Anyone can be a reserve for any team, but once a reserve completed for a team once, this person cannot change team for the entire season.)

For the Season 1:

  • The combine weight of the 3 competitors for each episode cannot exceed ≤ 230KG (For example: 80KG + 90KG + 60KG or 75KG + 85KG +80KG)
  • Each competitor can be from different belt level from Blue and Purple
  • Each team cannot be form by only higher belt level. (For example: cannot have three purple belts in one team)
  • Each Academy can have no more than two teams
  • Each team can seek their own sponsor(s). Patches and embroiders can only be affixed in authorized regions of the gi, following IBJJF uniform rules
  • Each episode will be a 4 teams single elimination tournament held weekly on a Saturday or Sunday
  • Each episode will take place at different sponsoring gyms/dojos in Hong Kong
  • Schedule will be published in the beginning of each season
  • Each member of the team will compete in an episode
  • The order for which member to compete (first, second and third) is summited by each team’s captain before each episode and cannot be change.  Teams will not know the order of the other team until the day of the episode.
  • Only the selected three members to complete in an episode will allow to complete that day.
  • Each member will win points for the team by winning the assigned match
  • The team with most points will advance to that episode’s final
  • In case of a draw (each team has the same amount of points), sudden death match will decide the winning team. Each team will submit the order of competitors entering the sudden death round
  • Prizes will be awarded to each episode’s winning team

  • 6 mins per match

How to score point for your team:

  • Match win with submission : +10 points award to winning team
  • Match win with points: +5 points award to winning team
  • Match draw: +1 points award to both teams
  • Competitor no show or forfeit: -10 points deducted from the team with no show
  • Team with highest score will advance to the final of each episode
  • In case of a team draw (both teams having the same team points), a sudden death match will decide the winning team. Each team will present the order of competitors fighting before the sudden death matches begins
  • Sudden death match is 1-minute round. Whoever score the first point, that team will advance or win the episode

Takizawa Keisuke

Black Belt in Brazilian Jiujitsu and 3rd Degree Black Belt in Judo. Taki is founder and head coach of Kowloon BJJ in Hong Kong.

Ryan Cheng

Black belt in Brazilian jiujitsu and a yoga instructor. Ryan is the instructor at Hong Kong Jiu Jitsu in Hong Kong.

Ramiro Botelho

Black Belt in Brazilian JiuJitsu, currently living in Hong Kong, and teaches at Hong Kong Fight Club.

Erick Buthsombat

Black Belt in Brazilian JiuJitsu. Erick trains out of Espada Studio in Hong Kong.

Hubert Ling

Black Belt in Brazilian JiuJitsu. Hubert trains out of Espada Studio in Hong Kong.
